With Bob Woodward confirming that former FBI agent W. Mark Felt is indeed "Deep Throat," and thus the primary source of information that brought down former President Richard Nixon in the Watergate scandal, it brings to mind mysteries in the sports world that remain unanswered. Earlier this month, Elliot Kalb of FOXSports.com identified 10 "conspiracies" that remain unanswered. For instance, was the 1985 NBA Draft rigged so that the New York Knicks received the first overall selection? (I strongly doubt it). Or was the 1972 U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball Team robbed of the gold medal by the game's official scorer and time keeper? (That one seems more plausible and quite possibly true -- check out this telling account on ESPN Classic). Obviously, none of these conspiracies are nearly as important as was Deep Throat, but they nevertheless show that despite the prevalence of investigative media, some well-publicized mysteries might never be solved.
